Extensions & Renovations
Single and two-storey extensions, garage conversions and full-house refurbishments — from footings to final decoration.
DetailsSkimming, re-plastering, rendering and full decoration — the finish that everything else is judged by.
Plastering is the trade people notice only when it's wrong: a wave down a wall, a shadow under a downlight, a hairline crack a month later. Flat walls and clean lines are the whole point.
A good skim starts with what's underneath: sound backgrounds, correct beading, the right suction control and mesh where movement is likely. We don't skim over failing plaster to save a day — we hack off what's blown, treat any damp cause first, and re-board or re-render properly before finishing.
On the decorating side we fill, caulk and sand before a brush touches the wall, use the correct primer for the substrate, and cut in by hand. Two coats means two coats. Woodwork gets prepared and undercoated rather than glossed straight over, which is why it still looks right after a few years of doors being slammed.
Give it a minimum of four to seven days to dry out fully, longer in cold or humid conditions, and always start with a thinned mist coat. Painting too early traps moisture and the paint peels.
Only if the cause has been dealt with. Recurring cracks usually mean movement, damp or a failing background rather than bad plaster. We'll look at the cause first and tell you what actually needs doing.
